    La Europa del siglo XXI debe construirse sobre principios sólidos enraizados básicamente en dos tradiciones: la judeocristiana y la grecolatina, matizadas por la Ilustración. Esta síntesis realista y trascendente a la vez es la que continuará haciendo de nuestro continente un manantial fecundo de ideas frescas y claras que nutran esta apasionante era de la globalización de la que somos protagonistas. Son los valores de estas tradiciones los que configuran el depósito de la herencia europea. Europa es un continente abierto, capaz de rescatar lo mejor de todas las culturas del orbe. Sin embargo, solo podemos hablar de la existencia de Europa si reconocemos a su vez que hay un conjunto de valores sobre los que se apoya la unidad estructural de nuestro continente.

    The Europe of the 21st century must be constructed on solid principles basically rooted in two traditions ? Judeo-Christian and the Greco-Latin ? nuanced by the Enlightenment. It is this realistic but, at the same time, transcendental synthesis that will continue to make our continent a fertile spring of fresh, clear ideas feeding this exciting era of globalisation, in which we are important figures. It is the values of these traditions that will configure the deposit of the European inheritance. Europe is an open continent, capable of rescuing the best of all the cultures in the world. However, we can only speak of the existence of Europe if we also recognise that there is a set of values supporting the structural unity of our continent.
