This article has been conceived as an introductory survey to the possibilities of new historiographical inquiries into Popular and Working Class Culture. Dr. Gabriel outlines this subject in the light of the current historiographical “culturalist fever”, but also throw light upon non conjuntural fields and developments. Following the pattern stablished by E. P. Thompson, Dr. Gabriel points out that popular and workers culture is not an ensemble formed by fixed theoretical or ideological contents; by the contrary, it constitutes a whole changing subject in continuous and open discussion.
