La pintura novohispana refleja, desde sus inicios, los trazos de grandes artistas europeos que popularizaron sus esquemas compositivos a través de la difusión de estampas y grabados. El conocimiento de estos estereotipos entre los pintores del Nuevo Mundo, manifiesta el uso habitual de estos recursos que, de manera parcial o total, protagonizaron en esencia el transcurrir de sus programas iconográficos.

The Novohispanic painting reflects, from its begining, the strokes of the most important European artists who made their compositional sketches very popular through the spread of prints and engravings. The knowledge of such stereotypes among painters of the New World, shows that the use of such kind of resources was common and, in a partial or total way, essentially staged the elapse of their iconographic programs.
