Resumen de La "Justi" en Latinoamérica: descubrimientos en lo descubierto

Helga von Kügelgen Kropfinger

  • "Discoveries within the Discovered". We report on the Carl Justi Association in Latin America, which was founded in 1989 to enhance the scientific and artistic collaboration with Spain and Portugal. Following some opening lines about Carl Justi himself, we mention the launch of the Association in Latin America thanks to the CIHA Congress in Berlin and, in the background, the Mexico Project. We also list members who have published works on Latin American themes. The first colloquium, entitled "Indigenous Heritages, European Traditions and the European Gaze", was held in Bremen. The Acts were, then, published in a series which since 2002 has been entitled Ars lberica et Americana. The second colloquium took place in the spring of 2005 in Puebla, Mexico, once more attended by colleagues from the IIE of the UNAM, the ICSH of the BUAP, and the Humboldt Chair. We offer a summary of these eighteen contributions, which all dealt with the subject: "To Name and to Explain. Terminology in the Study of Iberian and Latin American Art". The report ends with a presentation of various perspectives.
