Resumen de Galileo, el sistema europeo de navegación por satélite

  A finales de la presente década Europa habrá puesto a disposición de la comunidad internacional un nuevo sistema de navegación por satélite. A diferencia del sistema GPS americano, el sistema europeo, conocido con el nombre de Galileo, estará bajo control civil y permitirá a sus usuarios disponer de una garantía de servicio. El presente artículo introduce las características principales de Galileo, sus diferencias principales respecto al GPS y trata de anticipar las novedades que implicará para el mundo del transporte por carretera.

  By the end of present decade the international community will have available a new satellite navigation system that will have been deployed as a result of a European initiative. The European system, Galileo, unlike GPS, will be completely under civilian control and will offer a guaranteed level of service to its users. Present article introduces main characteristics of Galileo, its key differences with respect to the GPS and tries to anticipate the novelties that Galileo will bring to the road sector.
