Abstract
Bajo el título “Pintura y fotografía: discursos sobre el arte y la sociedad en la novelística de Pablo Montoya” la Tesis Doctoral pretende aportar nuevos enfoques sobre la obra del escritor colombiano contemporáneo y el tratamiento de la imagen visual en el texto literario. Las novelas La sed del ojo (2004), Los derrotados (2010) y Tríptico de la infamia (2014) forman el corpus del estudio y permiten iniciar el análisis en la concepción de que la pintura y la fotografía son el resultado de la manifestación de una percepción singular del ser humano y del mundo bajo la influencia de circunstancias contextuales específicas, aspectos que influyen en las funciones asignadas a la imagen en la sociedad. La característica más evidente de la imagen en la obra de Pablo Montoya es la de su discursividad que habilita el acceso a los significados de la imagen tanto a nivel local, como a uno universal y global a través de exposiciones ensayísticas o hermenéuticas exhaustivas y complementarias al proceso creativo. De esta manera el discurso narrativo se encuentra con el discurso visual y se puede examinar la problemática del otro en el contexto de la conquista del espacio americano o del cisma entre los católicos y los protestantes franceses en el siglo XVI; el concepto del arte y de las implicaciones estéticas y morales de la representación del desnudo femenino en la pintura y en la fotografía erótica del siglo XIX; y las dimensiones del testimonio y del compromiso social de la fotografía de guerra en el escenario del conflicto armado colombiano a finales del siglo XX y principios del XXI.
Under the title “Painting and Photography: Discourses on Art and Society in Pablo Montoya's Novels” this PhD Thesis aims to offer new approaches to the work of the contemporary Colombian writer and the treatment of the visual image in the literary text. The novels La sed del ojo (2004), Los derrotados (2010) and Tríptico de la infamia (2014) form the corpus to study and allow us to start the analysis of the analysis on the conception that painting and photography are the result of the manifestation of a unique perception of the human being and the world under the influence of specific contextual circumstances, aspects that influence the functions assigned to the image in society.The most evident characteristic of the image in the literary work of Pablo Montoya is that of its discursiveness, which enables the access to the meanings of the image both at a local level, and on a universal and global one, through an exhaustive essay or hermeneutical expositions of the image which are complementary to the creative process.In this way the narrative discourse meets the visual discourse and it is possible to examine the problem of the other in the context of the conquest of American space or the schism between Catholics and French Protestants in the 16th century; the concept of art and the aesthetic and moral implications of the representation of the female nude in 19th century in nude painting and erotic photography; and the dimensions of the testimony and social commitment of war photography in the scenario of the Colombian armed conflict in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
