Fundamentos temáticos y elementos narrativos en la novelística de Abel Posse

Abstract

El objetivo de esta Tesis Doctoral es llevar a cabo un análisis literario de los fundamentos temáticos y los elementos narrativos que cohesionan la totalidad de las novelas de Abel Posse. Resulta necesario contemplar todo el corpus de forma transversal para obtener una visión global de la novelística de Posse. Esta Tesis Doctoral pretende un análisis de los recursos que se repiten, de forma similar o con variaciones, en las novelas publicadas hasta la fecha del escritor argentino. Estos aspectos se dividirán en dos grupos. Por un lado se analizarán los elementos narrativos más relevantes: la figura del narrador, los tipos de textos dentro de la narración, los personajes recurrentes que aparecen en todas las novelas o el tratamiento del tiempo que lleva a cabo Abel Posse. Por otro lado se hará un estudio de los fundamentos temáticos, analizando los temas que con más frecuencia aparecen. En primer lugar nos encontramos con la fuerza del destino, el poder que arrastra a los personajes a cumplir el sino para el que están destinados. En segundo lugar, la existencia de una autoridad en todas las obras contra la que los personajes tratan de rebelarse. Otro tema de suma importancia es la situación que se produce cuando dos culturas se encuentran y se produce una confrontación, tema que sirve de base para la Trilogía del Descubrimiento y que aparece en el resto de novelas. Los otros dos temas que se analizarán serán la inclusión de elementos y lugares mágicos en la realidad de los personajes y la muerte como compañera inseparable de ellos. Con el análisis de todos estos aspectos lograremos una visión global de la narrativa de Abel Posse y se demostrará que todas las novelas están cohesionadas de forma que podrían considerarse como una sola, la que define la escritura de su autor.

Abstract The objective of this Doctoral Dissertation is to carry out a literary analysis of the thematic foundations and narrative elements that connect all Abel Posse’s novels. It is necessary to analyze the whole collection of works in a cross-sectional manner to obtain an overall view of Posse’s novels. This Doctoral Dissertation aims at analyzing the resources that are repeated, in a similar way or with variations, in the novels that have been published to date by the Argentinian writer. These aspects are divided into two groups. On the one hand, the most relevant narrative elements will be analyzed: the role of the narrator, the types of texts within the narration, the recurring characters that appear in all the novels, or the treatment of time. On the other hand, a study of the thematic foundations will be made, analyzing the topics that appear more frequently. Firstly, we find the force of destiny, the power that drags the characters to fulfill their fate for which they are destined. Secondly, the existence of an authority in all the works against which the characters try to rebel. Another important issue is the situation that occurs when two cultures meet and a confrontation occurs, a theme that serves as the basis for the Discovery Trilogy and which appears in the rest of the novels. The other two topics that will be analyzed will be the inclusion of magical elements and places in the reality of the characters, and the presence of death as the characters’ inseparable companion. With the analysis of all these aspects we will achieve a global view of Abel Posse’s narrative and it will be shown that all the novels are connected in such a way that they could be considered as just one work, which defines the author’s writing.
