    LAS DEMANDAS DE LOS USUARIOS AL SECTOR DEL AUTOMÓVIL SON CADA DÍA MÁS EXIGENTES. A la vez que la seguridad de los vehículos es cada vez mayor, existe una tendencia creciente a apreciar el confort en el interior del habitáculo. En este sentido, el asiento del automóvil juega un papel preponderante para el que es necesario aplicar criterios ergonómicos a un entorno de dimensiones limitadas y elevada funcionalidad. En el presente artículo se comentan algunos de los factores de mayor influencia en el confort, como son los aspectos subjetivos, dimensiones y atributos físicos, distribución de presiones, soporte lumbar, rigidez estática, confort térmico y transmisión de vibraciones. Partiendo de la adecuada definición del confort, la determinación de los factores que hacen que un asiento sea considerado cómodo por parte del usuario, sin menoscabo del resto de cualidades, determinará la capacidad de los fabricantes para conseguir productos que se adecuen a los requerimientos de los conductores actuales.

    Requests of the users to the automotive industry are more and more demanding. As safety of the vehicles increases, there is a growing trend in the market to recognize comfort in automotive interiors as an added value. The seat plays a preponderant role in comfort perception and it is necessary to employ ergonomic criteria in a space of reduced dimensions with high functionality requirements. Some of the main factors affecting comfort, such as subjective aspects, physical seat attributes, pressure distribution, spinal support, internal load deflection, thermal attributes and vibrations transmitted to occupant, are presented in this article.

    Defining adequately comfort and determining the factors that make that a seat is considered comfortable by the user, without forgetting the rest of the attributes, will allow the manufacturer to offer products that will reach the requirements of nowadays drivers.
