    El comienzo de la independencia del Perú, que se produjo en 1821, dio lugar a la aprobación y puesta en marcha de diversas Constituciones, pero sin mayores desarrollos teóricos. Esto último más bien ocurre en el siglo XX, merced a ciertos intelectuales, liderados por Manuel Vicente Villarán. Más tarde surgen otros autores, muchos de ellos vinculados a la docencia universitaria, sobre todo a fines de la década de los setenta del pasado siglo, coincidiendo con los procesos democráticos que se suceden en el mundo y en especial en tierras americanas. Este fenómeno se inicia con la Constitución de 197 y se refleja en la proliferación de cátedras, en la aparición de profesores especializados en la materia, en los eventos realizados y en el incremento de las publicaciones. Esta especie de boom constitucional se extiende durante los últimos años del siglo XX y se prolonga en el nuevo siglo.

    Peru as all other ibero-american nations, gained its political independence at the beginning of the XIX century, exactly in 1821. This beginning went together with approving and passing many different Constitutions, but this was not carried out accompanied with large theoretical developments. This happened by individual initiatives and in some sense solitary activities of some intellectuals in the XX century, leaded at its beginnings by Manuel Vicente Villarán. With the years this will change slowly when new authors appear, not only with texts but also teaching at the universities. The real change occurs at the end of the 1970s, coinciding with the democratizations that took place all over the world and especially in Latin American countries. This has its starting point with the 1979 Constitution, it is followed by a sort of constitutional boom which is reflected in the proliferation of courses of Constitutional and the appearance of specialized teachers in the area, events and publications were made in rapid succession. This covers the last years of the twentieth century and continues in the new century.
