    Este estudio analiza el proceso de creación de la villa de San Cristóbal y la repercusión del mismo en la constitución de su patrimonio histórico.

    En él se presta especial atención a las características de la colonización del territorio, que explican los avatares sufridos por la implantación del modelo proyectado por los conquistadores; y se pondera el papel rector de la naciente población en el conjunto insular, con las oportunidades y obligaciones que ello comportaba.

    The present study analyzes the emergence of the town of San Cristóbal and the repercussion this process had on the creation of its historical patrimony. Special attention is devoted to the characteristics of the territory’s colonization, since these may explain the diverse out-turns caused by the establishment of the model projected by the conquerors. The main role played by the rising population in the islands is also valued, as well as the opportunities and obligations it involved
