    La ley 41/2002 regula las voluntades anticipadas. En cierta medida, es efecto del debate sobre la eutanasia. Se construyen como elemento de expresión del consentimiento informado y como ayuda para hacer frente al ensañamiento terapéutico y mantener el control del enfermo sobre su propio proceso de muerte. Sobre los denominados testamentos vitales se han expresado críticas respecto a su denominación, por lo que se ha optado por otro término. También respecto a su idoneidad genérica para cumplir los objetivos que se plantean. El efecto puede ser una notable burocratización. Debe tenerse en cuenta, sin embargo, que el establecimiento de facto de una presunción eutanásica en ciertos casos, como probó la muerte de Terri Schiavo, puede hacer recomendable la toma de precauciones en forma de voluntades anticipadas

    The 41/2002 law regulates the advance directives. Up to a point, it is an effect of the debate on the euthanasia.
