The Association for Tutors in Science Education( a subsidiary organisation of (The Association for Science Education) was commissioned by the Teacher Training Agency to produce materials for the professional development of new tutors in science education. These materials were to be put on a new national website to be launched by the Association for Science Education (ASE) in January 2004 at the Annual Meeting held in Reading, UK. This paper outlines a case study which examines the development of these materials and thoughts about the evaluation of the use of web based materials.
