Highlights: The "mosquito fleet" has a specific page in the WWI naval wars. Based on a specific ship, it is missing detailed documentation, the survey of the last one can highlight that episode. The digital survey of the Eothen has a strategy aimed to allow the full documentation of the shipwreck in a very difficult environment, managing floods, mud, vegetation and reflections. The drawings and the 3D model, accessible from a free platform allow complete access to this ruined ship, a contribution to knowledge and a base for possible intervention hypothesis. Abstract: The research presented here puts together different direct and/or physical operations all aimed to enhance the knowledge and produce advanced dissemination of the very last ship from the "Mosquitos' Fleet" which operated during the World War I and in some operations even during the World War II. The exploration of the valuable remains along the Thames River in London, the intervention with archaeology strategy, the use of digital survey procedures, the investigation of the references about the fleet, the digital modelling and drawing and the final online sharing of the 3D model, brought together to a specific digital heritage creation of an element with a high risk of getting lost. An international team worked together on the poor shipwreck of the Eothen (the last name assigned to this ship by its last owner). The intervention was operated in very odd operative conditions, with the hull invaded by the mud, the very wet environment and the daily flood of the area, such a mix of difficult conditions were a special challenge for the survey operations, which were optimized and accurately planned to allow the best and efficient result in terms of coverage and level of details. The following post-processing aimed to the production of a classic set of 2D drawings and an interactive 3D model, accessible in a real-time visualization from the sketchfab.com platform creates an excellent base for a possible following restoration/musealisation intervention, or, at least, allow digital preservation of a rich dataset of the remains of this interesting piece from the naval history of the first half of the 20 th century.

Morocco has a vernacular architectural heritage of recognized value, which constitutes an indissoluble part of its cultural legacy. In the south of the country, specifically in the High Atlas mountain range and the pre-Saharan oases, we mainly find earth constructions of an incomparable landscape integration and plasticity. However, the political and social changes of the last decades are favoring the abandonment of these constructions, placing many of them at risk of disappearing. The objective of this contribution is to reveal the characteristics and weaknesses that the new constructions present today. The method used has consisted in analyzing the preservation actions that are being carried out, both by the Moroccan public administration and by private individuals, including those developed by the authors through documentation, cataloging, virtualization, and restoration.

We continually hear about the virtues of the use of drones, but not about the real possibilities of the existing ones in the market applied to the work of architectural survey; and neither about the advantages and problems it solves in the incorporation of aerial photographs in the photogrammetric survey, covering topics such as the necessary software, turnaround times, the accuracies achieved or costs... Additionally, there is a legislative part which is necessary to highlight, so below we have also summarized the legal and facultative needs to perform these work as established by AESA (Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency).

This research is located in El Khorbat, into the Ferkla oasis, in southern Morocco. The subject matter are the two existing ksour, built between the 16th and 19th centuries, respectively. This urban habitat have completely built with its surrounding´s materials, using the rammed earth as the main construction sys-tem. Now we shows part of the results obtained in the Arqui-Hábitat’s project (ADSIDEO AD1409-UPV) developed during the period 2015-2016. From the comparative analysis of its variables, we can deduce the elements that influenced its evolution and development

Archaeology is the science of studying the arts, monuments and ancient objects through their remains. Since its inception, the methodology used to carry out this study has been based on the detailed drawing of these objects, to which other types of physical and chemical analysis were incorporated. In this way, we can say that all the archaeological objects and sites that we wish to analyze are drawn for their better knowledge, restoration and dissemination. However, although we can say that modern archaeology has existed as a discipline since the 19th century, it has been during the last decade, with the maturity of digital applications, when archaeological drawing has experienced a real revolution. Already towards the end of the 20th century, with the appearance of computerized drawing and the incipient digital photography, we witnessed some changes, although not substantial, coexisting with these new technologies with manual surveying techniques.

For years we have approached the architectural heritage through the traditional drawings, based on data collection taken from sketches and point to point measurements; however, today we can rely on different systems that make necessary to consider not only the phases of the elevation but the methodology to follow, constituting in itself a study that needs to be addressed from the knowledge of advanced data collection techniques. Thus we must analyze what is special about the work and what are our research needs, which will give rise to a list of products to be obtained and will result in a number of plans to scale, photogrammetries, 3D models, pictures and videos. Only then will we obtain the appropriate methodology which may include traditional direct surveys, photogrammetric surveys (2D correction, 3D restitution), 3D laser scans, drones, photographs, spherical panoramic photographs, video, etc.
In the present communication we describe the process followed in determining the methodology that is being carried out in the elevation of a building corpus that presents special characteristics due to the diversity of geographical locations and the dimensions and materials used, as well as its conservation status.

The ruins have always a special fascination over their visitors, moreover, behind the romantic aspects and their poetic “resonance”, often they are a meaningful witness of past choices and readable traces of the previous asset of a town. Granada is well known all over the world for the beauty of its
downtown and the presence of the Alhambra monument. The specific combination of European and Islamic Architecture all over the town make it an awesome place testifying a nodal moment in the European story through its buildings. In the town a lot of these elements are clearly readable, but there are
also some interesting traces still in need to be investigated. One of these is the so called “Cadi Gate”, a large ruin along the Darro river, just at the feet of the hill where the buildings of the Alhambra rise. The research presented here has been established on the analysis and investigation of the actual state of this ruin, basing the whole approach on digital survey to document the state of the area, passing across
a complete digital reconstructive hypothesis based on the geometric analysis using 2D and 3D digital modeling solution. In the presentation the ruins of the “Cadì” will be analyzed and it will be showed the specific approach where the investigation is based on digital tools: starting from the photographic and
SFM survey, passing from a complete reconstructive hypothesis based on the geometric analysis of the
remains and on a set of architectural references and completing a digital 3D reconstruction of a possible original asset of the ancient urban asset. Starting from the actual “not so clear” condition of this urban element, a better understanding of the ancient Granada will be enriched with a meaningful benefit coming from the digital tools involved in this research.

Proceedings of the International Conference on Modern Age Fortifications of the Western Mediterranean coast. October 15th, 16th and 17th 2015, at the Ciudad Politécnica de la Innovación, of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
The conference’s main objective is the exchange of knowledge and sharing for the better understanding, assessment, management and exploitation of culture and heritage that developed on the Mediterranean coast in the modern age, taking into account the wide distribution of these results.
The Conference has an interdisciplinary aim where architects, engineers, archaeologists, historians, geographers, cartographers, heritage managers, tourism experts, experts in restoration-conservation and promotion of heritage will participate. The idea is to provide a more inclusive, more real and more up to date views, leading us to the point where we could find the investigations of this matter, in the twenty-first century.
The theme is centered on the fortifications of the western Mediterranean (Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco) in the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries, although it does not exclude other Mediterranean countries and other fortifications from this era.

In discussions on urbanism, the need to involve new actors has been a major theme of recent debate. In this field, throughout Europe, various ways of allowing citizens to take a more direct part in planning is stressed. It is also important to look at the role or lack of role played by particular research fields. Architecture plays a major role in city planning. While archaeology has become increasingly involved in field projects in urban environments, the discipline seldom plays an important role in city planning. The digital tools for documenting and designing have changed the approach to many procedures and have created new figures involved in the process of facing architecture and archaeology.
In several countries and particular cities this situation has been questioned during the last decades.
In Sweden, certain studies indicate an increased interest in an active involvement of archaeology from the part of individual municipalities and provincial governments, and even on the state level in certain cases.
In France, Lavendhomme at Inrap has discussed various possible new kinds of uses of archaeology in the planning process, and similar discussions start to appear in other countries. In the UK, archaeologists are increasingly involved in mitigating heritage impacts of building projects at the design stage rather than during construction (excavating).
To take just one example, in Sweden the archaeologist Stefan Larsson has developed a project with the municipality of Kalmar, in which city planners, architects and archaeologists collaborate in making suggestions for a city plan in a segment of the city.
In this workshop we will focus on possible new ways of collaboration between architects and archaeologists. With a particular stress over the intelligent use of digital solution for documenting, designing and representing the contest and the new ideas. We wish to open a new kind of communication between these research fields and related praxis.
The possible contributions from archaeology include questions of conservation, diffusion of archaeological knowledge by different means, but also other fields, including practical knowledge on the development of particular districts over time, general knowledge in comparative studies of urbanism, questions of design or questions of “gestalt” in urban settings, and the intersections between archaeology, architecture and public art. Last but not least the topic of the communication, which in our time is something totally linked to the digital media.
We hope this workshop will help to open this field, and that it will be followed by other scholarly meetings on more limited particular cases and questions and, potentially, by a larger conference building on the workshop’s outcomes.

The Ksar El Khorbat, located in the Ferkla's Oasis (Morocco), is a little village formed by two urban centers of Berber-Islamic origin, built with earth, using traditional techniques and sustainable materials, extracted from its own environment. In recent years they have been abandoned or changed, giving rise to new architectural typologies. After an extensive and exhaustive field work on this habitat and its construction systems, we present this work with the objective of showing the different types of habitat and their functional and constructive characteristics. In addition we will study the construction techniques used. The work is completed with the presentation of a current typological map of the construction state of the palm grove. This work has been developed within the framework of the Project “Arqui-Hábitat (Tafilalt) ADSIDEO-AD1409” of the Centre de Cooperació al Desenvolupament (UPV).
