Abstract

Screencasts are a video technique based on recording the images computer’s screen. The main objective of the Screencasts is to teach procedural content. There are a variety of Screencast settings. Likewise, one exhibit the instructor’s image and the audio explanation. Because of their features, Screencasts have the potential to be deployed in online teaching, especially courses that involve Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as technical drawing. This article aims to identify the optimal AutoCAD Screencasts settings for online teaching of technical drawing in architecture and engineering courses. Several AutoCAD Screencast settings were evaluated by the participants of this research. Thus, they were inquired about Screencast’s elements and content comprehension. As a result, the participants reported hurdles in understanding the Screencasts without audio. Instead, the instructions were transmitted by subtitles. Hence, these Screencasts required more pauses than those with audio. Another finding of this study regards the controversy of setting the instructor’s image. It requires more investigation to verify if the exhibition of the instructor’s image is optimal in Screencast settings. Therefore, AutoCAD Screencasts with audio are recommended to optimize the teaching-learning process in technical drawing for online teaching.
