Abstract
The 1940s were a very productive period for Frank Lloyd Wright, undoubtedly thanks to the weekend home for Edgard J. Kauffmann, soon known as Fallingwater, by which he gained considerable media attention in 1938. This paper focuses on two of his designs of 1944: The Pergola House and The Glass House. The former was never built, although its design, with necessary modifications, was offered to several clients. The latter was built commissioned by Loeb Walter, and it also led to several other commissions which were never built. Both have in common their comprehensive definition by two detailed models displayed in The Museum of Modern Art, and published in the magazine, The Architectural Forum, whose publisher, Howard Myers, was the leading promoter of Wright’s work between 1936 and 1947.
