Abstract

RESUMEN La migración y los problemas de índole político y humano entre México y los Estados Unidos es, no sólo una cuestión de actualidad, sino una constante entre estos dos países. Es por este motivo, que he buscado entender la complejidad del problema, utilizando diversas fuentes y enfoques, como serían su representación mediante medios visuales y orales. En este trabajo se abordan diversas expresiones artísticas y políticas que se dan, como parte del fenómeno de migración entre México y los Estados Unidos, como una manera de expresar sentimientos contradictorios por parte de los migrantes tanto mexicanos como de otros países de Centroamérica, principalmente, como serían dolor, impotencia, miedo, frustración, sueños, perseverancia y esperanza, entre muchos otros. Asimismo, se trata la manera en que se afecta el sistema familiar tanto de los que se van, de los que se quedan, y de los que regresan por su gusto o por ser deportados. Con este propósito se presenta la descripción, análisis e interpretación de diversas fuentes asociadas a la migración, a través de relatos a los que he tenido acceso, como parte de mis actividades como terapeuta familiar. En adición se hace uso de representaciones acerca de la migración, como historia oral, cine, canciones, exvotos, caricatura política y pintura mural, que son realizados por los migrantes. Derivado del análisis de las expresiones políticas y artísticas que se plasman en el muro que separa a estos dos países, se aprecia como el fenómeno de migración entre México y los Estados Unidos, es manifestado mediante expresiones artísticas que proyectan su sentir en relación con la existencia y significado de una división artificial entre esos dos países. Por último, se dan recomendaciones para apoyar a los migrantes a través de la utilización de terapias creativas, las cuales, como se explica, permiten a través de expresiones artísticas, tratar el dolor al que son expuestos los migrantes.

ABSTRACT Migration and the political and human difficulties between Mexico and the United States, is not only an issue, but a constant between these two countries. That is the reason why I have been looking to understand the complexity of the problem, using different sources and approaches, such as representation through visual and oral means. In this paper, as part of the migration phenomenon between Mexico and the United States, various artistic and political expressions are discussed, as a way of expressing conflicting feelings on the part of the Mexican and other Central American migrants, such as pain, impotence, fear, frustration, dreams, perseverance, and hope, among many others. I address, how the family system affects by those who leave, and those who stay, and those who return for pleasure or for being deported. With this purpose the description, analysis and interpretation of diverse sources associated to the migration, through stories to which I have had access, is presented as part of my activities as family therapist. In addition, I include representations about migration, such as oral history, cinema, songs, ex votes, political caricature and urban painting, which are carried out by the migrants. The analysis of the political and artistic expressions that are reflected in the wall that separates these two countries, shows how the phenomenon of migration between Mexico and the United States is manifested through artistic expressions that project their feeling in relation to its existence. Finally, recommendations are given to support migrants through the use of creative therapies, which, as explained, allow through artistic expressions to treat the pain to which migrants are exposed.
