Barcelona calling: El retorno de la emigración juvenil

    Durante la crisis económica, la juventud española se ha ido a vivir al extranjero buscando un trabajo que les permitiera hacer la transición a la vida adulta y así adquirir competencias que enriquecieran sus currículums. No obstante, últimamente les ha llegado el mensaje que la economía española está mejorando, cosa que les hace plantearse retornar. Aunque el 97% de los informantes se lo plantean, condicionan el retorno a poder conseguir un trabajo estable y cualificado, siendo aún más importante entre jóvenes que han construido una familia en el extranjero. Aquellos que ya han vuelto manifiestan haber tenido un shock al llegar, retrocediendo a una “versión antigua de ellos mismos”. Entre las propuestas que hacen a las administraciones para facilitar el proceso de retorno destacan: crear un grupo de soporte psicológico entre jóvenes retornados, crear una bolsa de trabajo para personas con experiencias internacionales y facilitar el acceso a la vivienda.

    During the economic crisis, Spanish young people have gone abroad looking for job opportunities that would allow them making the transition into adulthood and acquire skills to improve their CVs. Lately, Spanish media has spread the message that the economy is getting better and there are more jobs available, what makes these young migrants consider returning to Spain. Although 97% of the informants consider returning to Catalonia in a near future, they demand qualified and permanent jobs in order to take the leap, what become even more important to those who have built a family abroad. Those who have recently arrived to Barcelona agree that it was a shock for them since they had to go backwards to an “old version of themselves”. In order to help young migrants on their return process, the informants propose: create a psychological support group among young returnees, create a job center for people with international experiences and facilitate access to housing.
