Mariano Lagasca y la "ley de las series homólogas en la variación" de Nikolai Vavilov

    El autor recuerda el contenido de la «ley de las series homólogas en la variación» enunciada en 1922 por VAVILOV, y describe los fenómenos de la regularidad y paralelismo en la variación, bases en la que se fundamenta. Analizando el esquema de clasificación de los trigos españoles usado por LAGASCA en 1816 y adoptado en el herbario de la Ceres hispanica, en colaboración con CLEMENTE, y comparándolo con las lineas de orientación de VAVILOV, deduce que, no obstante no haber formulado ninguna ley, el botánico español conoció y usó ampliamente los principios de la variación regular y para-lela que, un siglo más tarde, habían de recibir forma de ley.

    The author recalls the content of the «law of homologous series in va-riation» formulated in 1922 by VAVILOV, and describes the phenomenons of regularity and parallelism in variation on which that same law is based. Analysing the scheme of classification of Spanish wheats utilised by LAGASCA in 1816 and adopted in the her-barium of «Ceres hispanica», in co-operation with CLEMENTE, and comparing it with the guidelines followed by VAVILOV and likewise used by this author in the systematisation of wheats, he comes to the conclusion that, though LAGASCA formulated no law, the Spanish botanist was familiar with and resorted largely to the principies of regular parallel variation which would shape VAmov's «law» a century later.
