    Uno de los documentos más importantes del patrimonio musical de la conquista de México, a la par con la Psalmodia christiana de Bernardino de Sahagún, es sin duda la Histoyre du Mechique, manuscrito traducido al francés por André Thévet en 1553. El documento narra la leyenda sobre el origen de la música, que los nahuas relataron a Fray Andrés de Olmos hacia 1533, en el mito De la creación del mundo según los de Chalco. Este relato fue transcrito al castellano por el propio fray Andrés en 1543 en Tenochtitlan, que incluyó en su Tratado de antigüedades mexicanas y que desafortunadamente se ha perdido.

    El documento resulta revelador de las similitudes entre la mitología nahua y la griega sobre la génesis del mundo, en donde la música ciertamente juega un papel central de las concepciones míticas sobre el universo.

    One of the most important documents of musical heritage of the conquest of Mexico, along with Bernardino de Sahagun`s Christiana Psalmodia, is undoubtedly the Histoyre du Mechique, manuscript translated into French by André Thévet in 1553. The document tells the legend about the origin of the music, that nahuas reported to Fray Andres de Olmos around 1533, in the myth From the creation of the world according to the of Chalco. This story was transcribed into spanish by Olmos himself in Tenochtitlan in 1543, which included in its Mexican antiques Treaty which unfortunately has been lost.

    The document comes out revealing about the similarities between the Nahua and Greek mythology about the genesis of the world, where the music certainly plays a central role in the mythical conceptions about the universe.
