    El bloqueo británico de Cádiz y el ataque a Santa Cruz de Tenerife en 1797 constituyen hechos bien conocidos. Sin embargo, queda mucho terreno por explorar, en relación a la naturaleza de la guerra durante la Revolución Francesa y el Imperio Napoleónico. En estas páginas se analizan aquellas operaciones a través del extenso relato del capitán Ralph Willet Miller, comandante del buque insignia de Nelson, Theseus. En su narración se comprueba la complejidad inherente a un bloqueo naval y una operación anfibia de aquella época, así como los postulados de la guerra de aniquilación.

    The British Blockade of Cádiz and the attack onsanta Cruz de Tenerife are well-known events in history. However, there is still much to be learnt with respect to the nature of the warfare during the Franch Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. Here we analyse some of the operations as narrated by Captain Ralph Willet Miller, the Commander in Chief of Nelson's flagship, Theseus. The story told reveals the complications of the military manoeuvres At SEA involved in a Blockade in those times together with the Basic postulates upon which a war of annihilation was waged.
