En este artículo se exponen las diversas interpretaciones realizadas por la historiografía española e internacional del significado de la Casa de Austria en la construcción de una Historia nacional española. Aborda no solo su inclusión en la memoria y las identidades nacionales sino que también analiza la contribución de los hispanistas. Por último se pone de relieve el papel fundamental de la Corte para una interpretación adecuada de los siglos XVI y XVII.

In this paper are exposed the various interpretations and meanings asigned to the House of Austria in the construction of a Spanish national history. Here are exposed the Spanish and international historiography about this item. It addresses inclusion not only in memory and national identities, but also analyzes the contribution of hispanist scholars. Finally highlights the fundamental role of the Court for a proper interpretation of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
