At the start of the spanish War the two movie production centers of the country, Barcelona and Madrid, were both in republican territory. For this reason, the movie production of this zone began quite early, as opposed to the production centers out in Nationalist zone. The diversity of movie production centers provided a wide range of viewpoints, as well as ideologicall proposals. In the western democracies, few films were made about the war, and almost always produced by progressive organizations, because governments of these countries were faithful to the policy of the Committe of non-invertion. On the contrary, the Soviet Union, Germany and Italy glorified the resistance and the victories of the side that they supported.
