    Este artículo hace una distinción entre investigación e investigación formativa. También señala los peligros de confundir estas dos formas de trabajo académico e insiste en la necesidad de desarrollarlas simultáneamente para enfrentar los nuevos retos de la educación superior.

    Igualmente habla de la importancia de intensificar los vínculos entre investigación y docencia y hace la diferencia entre investigación pedagógica e investigación formativa.

    Finalmente cuestiona la posibilidad de una formación profesional de calidad sin investigación, señala la investigación como condición que define la identidad de la universidad y reconoce la importancia crucial de la investigación en las relaciones entre universidad y sociedad.

    In this article the difference between research and formative research is presented. The dangers of confusing these two forms of academic work are pointed out, and the need of developing them simultaneously to face the new challenges of the superior education is insisted.

    The importance of intensifying the bonds between research and teaching is pointed out, and pedagogic research is distinguished from formative research. The possibility of a qualified professional formation with no research is questioned. The research as a condition that defines the identity of the university is pointed out, and the importance of the research among the relations between university and society is recognized.
