Play is an important strategy to lead the student into the world of learning. It originated in Greece. Since then it has been employed as one of the forms of learning most suitable to the age, needs, interests and expectations of children.

This is a descriptive work (Ander-Egg, 1978) based on field-work carried out in two schools: María Electa Torres Perdomo in Puente Carache, and Miguel Enrique Villegas in El Jobo, Trujillo, Venezuela. The principal object was to use strategies in which play was the principal element.

All the research was done in class, with learning microclasses giving a different dynamic from that practiced by the teachers. These strategies appear in the general work. Authors consulted included: Leif and Brunelle (1978), González Alcantud (1993), Piaget (1945), Vygotsky (1966), Dávila (1987) and Decroly (1998).
