    El estudio tuvo como objetivo desarrollar una metodología de trabajo para determinar los cambios espaciales y temporales ocurridos en áreas geográficas, en este caso, en la Ciénaga de los Olivitos y su área de influencia, mediante la combinación de técnicas de teledetección y Sistemas de Información Geográficos (S.I.G.). El área de estudio fue seleccionada por ser un humedal costero de mayor extensión dentro del estado Zulia, y es un ecosistema susceptible a sufrir cambios, producto de las acciones naturales y antrópicas. La metodología implementada consistió en determinar diferentes categorías de uso de la tierra y clases de cobertura vegetal, mediante la fotointerpretación de fotografías aéreas misiones Aéreas 4 y 4 A (1946) y 0201127 (1976); y operaciones en el S.I.G., utilizando los Softwares Microstation 95 Y Arcview 3.2., para realizar la digitalización y efectuar los análisis espaciales. Mediante la fotointerpretación se determinaron catorce (14) unidades cartográficas (3 de Uso de la tierra y 11 de Clases de cobertura vegetal) para cada año (1946 y 1976); y a través del S.I.G. se elaboraron mapas por cada año en referencia. Se concluye que el uso alterno de técnicas de teledetección en combinación con las de S.I.G. constituye una metodología adecuada e ilustrativa para elaborar mapas y determinar cambios espaciales y temporales, en La Ciénaga de Los Olivitos en el tiempo de evaluación de 30 años (1946 y 1976).

    The study had as purpose to develop a methodology of work to determine space and temporary changes that occur in geographical areas, in this case, in the Ciénaga de Los Olivitos and its influence area, through the combination of techniques of teledetection and Geographical Information Systems (G.I.S.). The study area was selected for being the most extensive coastal wetland throughout the Zulia State, having a declaration of Fauna Wildlife Refuge and Fishing Reserve and for being a ecosystem susceptible to changes due to natural and human actions. The implemented methodology consisted in determine different kind of land use and vegetal cover classes types, through a photointerpretation of aerial photographs correspondent to the aerial missions 4 and 4A (1946) and 0201127 (1976); and operations in the G.I.S., using the MICROSTATION 95 and ARCVIEW 3.2 softwares, with the purpose of accomplishing the digitalization and bring about the space analysis. Through photointerpretation, fourteen (14) cartographic entities were determined, (3 of land uses and 11 of vegetal cover classes) for each year (1946 and 1976), and by means of the G.I.S., maps for each year in reference were elaborated. It was determined that the alternate use of techniques of teledetection in combination with the G.I.S. ones, constitute an adequate and illustrative methodology for the elaboration of maps and the determination of space and temporary changes, being a clear example our study in Ciénaga de Los Olivitos through the period of observation of 30 years (1946 y 1976).
