The evaluation of the agricultural potential of a zone depends in great measure of the availability of adequate climatologic data. Such data constitute an indispensable bioclimatic element in the zoning and characterization of the crops. Due the exposed before, it is necessary to generate an accurate and coherent study in the production areas. In this sense has been developed, in a first approximation, a climatic characterization in order to showing the vegetative and productive behaviour of citrus and to initiate the historic series that allows generating bioclimatic records in Yumare, Yaracuy state. This area is an orange producer with special characteristics of the fruit quality. The data were registered between the 2005-2007 years, in Yumare, Yaracuy state at 78 m.a.s. The highest temperatures were observed between September and October, 35-37 °C and the lowest were in December between 17-18 °C with an annual average of 26.5 ° C and with the annual temperature amplitude between 13.1 and 16.8 °C. In the area did rain 123 days as an average during the two years of records, with a distribution frequency of a daily water amount between 1-10 mm with an annual rain average of 1.343 mm. December was the rainiest month with 211mm and the months with less values were June and July with less than 50 mm. The day length was between 11.4 hours in December to 12.6 hr in June. The months with water deficit correspond to the period of April and to July-September, and the excess months were between November and February. This information is a basic tool for agronomic planning as pest control or estimations of citrus phenological events; also it is possible to optimize the time and frequency of irrigation.
