El ensayo reporte tiene por objeto describir la actitud del gobierno en el origen, evolución y término del movimiento estudiantil secundario de mayo y junio de 2006, que pusiera en duros aprietos a las autoridades y representara una enérgica crítica contra la efectividad de las medidas implementadas desde el inicio de la Reforma Educacional en su búsqueda por la calidad y la equidad. Esta movilización que comenzó por problemas relativamente superficiales y circunstanciales, que afectaban especialmente la realidad de los establecimientos municipalizados y algunos particulares subvencionados, fue agravándose con el correr del tiempo, y develando, la profunda crisis por la que sigue atravesando la educación chilena. La intervención de otros �actores políticos� que acompañaron el proceso, como el Colegio de Profesores, la Asociación de Municipalidades de Chile, la FIDE, la oposición política, algunas federaciones de estudiantes universitarios y la Iglesia, entre otros, transformó este conflicto focalizado básicamente en Santiago, en un �tema-país�, que comenzó a agudizarse poco a poco, hasta llegar a adquirir finalmente, dimensiones nacionales. De ahí, que resulte interesante estudiarlo desde una perspectiva macropolítica, pues reflejó de manera clara el empleo de estrategias de poder e influencia entre los beligerantes, dirigidas hacia la consecución de sus respectivos intereses, en un �campo de lucha� que acabó siendo todo el país.

This report essay is aimed to describe the government�s attitude in the origin, evolution and ending of the 2006 May and June secondary student movement. This movement put authorities against the wall and represented a great critique to the effectiveness of the measures used since the beginning of the Educational Reform in its search for quality and equity. This mobilization, which started due to some relatively superficial and circumstantial problems that affected especially county establishments and some independent subsidized ones, became more serious as time went by. This revealed the deep crisis Chilean education continues to go through. The intervention of some others �political actors� who tagged along during the process such as the Professorate Union, the Chilean County Association, the FIDE, the political opposition, some university student�s federations and the church among others; transformed this basically Santiago-based conflict into a �country-issue�, which began to intensify little by little up to the point where it became a national issue. Hence, it is interesting to study this movement from a macropolitical perspective; since it reflected clearly the use of power strategies and influence between the belligerent. These strategies were directed to achieve their own interests in a �battle field� that ended up being the entire country.
