This paper reviews the technique of etching by photopolymer films, developed within recent tendencies of less-toxic etching. Such process allows etching without the need of acids, and significantly reduces the finishing time, in comparison with traditional etching. It employs photopolymer films, which are laminated in almost any surface. They permit a wide arrange of materials to make plates, more versatile, light and inexpensive than traditional metals. The photosensitive nature of the film additionally allows the novel and easy incorporation of photography and drawing as means of graphic expression. The text includes basic scientific terms to understand the nature of polymers.

The goal is to serve as a practical guide for students and interested artists.
