Se realiza una panorámica de los trabajos de Luria en psicología general, infantil e histórica. Sus primeras investigaciones fueron sobre las reacciones emocionales, que le acercaron al análisis de los procesos psíquicos complejos. Más tarde elaboró su teoría histórico-cultural del psiquismo. Numerosas investigaciones fundamentan las ideas acerca del origen social y la estructura mediatizada de las funciones psíquicas superiores. También llevó a cabo importantes trabajos sobre los procesos del desarrollo intelectual en el niño. Otra línea de investigación fue el desarrollo histórico de los procesos cognoscitivos. Asimismo, trabajó en el estudio de los mecanismos psicofisiológicos de la regulación voluntaria de la conducta motora y llevó a cabo investigaciones sobre el papel regulador del lenguaje en la conducta

Luria�s work in general psychology, child psychology and historic psychology is reviewed. His initial research work focused on the study of emotional reactions which led him to analyse complex mental processes. Later, he elaborated his historic-cultural theory of mental processes. Numerous investigations substantiate his views on the social origin and the mediated structure of higher mental functions. The processes involved in children�s cognitive development were also studied in depth. Another important line of research adopted by Luria was the historical development of cognitive processes. He also studied with great interest the psychophysiological mechanisms involved in the voluntary regulation of motor behaviour, and investigated the regulating role of language on behaviour.
