Juan Antonio Ortega y Medina estudia las contribuciones de los trasterrados españoles en diversas áreas como la historiografía, la filosofía, la medicina, la literatura y las artes. El autor resalta el valor de las aportaciones de estos españoles que llegaron a México huyendo de la Guerra Civil Española; describe su trayectoria en distintas instituciones educativas, su papel en la creación de otras y menciona sus obras más importantes. Juan Antonio Ortega y Medina studies the contributions Spanish exiled historians made to several areas, such as historiography, philosophy, medicine, literature and arts. The author highlights the value of the contributions Spaniards made exiling themselves from the Spanish Civil War; he describes their careers in different educative institutions, their role in the creation of others and mentions their most important works. He also points out the academic work these men did and had as a result the rise of disciples that continued with the ideas they received.
