  • The notarial protocols are the most abundant historical sources in the Archivo Histórico Provin­cial de Málaga. The analysed documents add to our knowledge of the following topics: the labour conditions and salaries in the fishery sector - of high economic importance - with its high number of temporary labour force, but also those in less represented sectors; the labour situation of the apprentices; an examination of the contracts signed in the name of minor men with the end of guaranteeing them the apprenticeship of their profession; the access to the labour market of girls and women, reflected in the correspondent service contracts; the prices and costs in different economic sectors (nutrition, stock farming, property market, viniculture, and transports). The obtained data and information are put in relation with the customs of the referred epochs in paying modalities and the acceptation of different circulating currencies.
