  • After the Seven Years War, several mining academies were founded in Europe. The first to open its doors in the New World was that in Mexico in 1792. Chemistry and Metallurgy were the most important disciplines in students' curricula, and in some cases they were taught by physicians. In Mexico, Luis Fernando Lindner (ca. 1763-1805), a German graduate of the Wiener Medizinische Schule, occupied this chair between 1797 and 1805. This paper reveals some unknown details about his life and a reconstruction of his personal library.
