    Carrasco i Formiguera i el pacte de Sant Sebastià [ HILARI RAGUER] El 9 d'abril de 1938, les tropes del general Franco convertien en màrtir nacional a Manuel Carrasco i Formiguera, líder politic català durant la segona i tercera década del segle XX. El seu nacionalisme i amor a la terra, principis defensats amb fermesa en tots els escenaris politics en què participà, precipitaren el seu afusellament només quatre dies després que Franco abolis per decret l'Estatut. Uns anys ahans, Carrasco tingué un paper clau en el que s'anomenà el pacte de Sant Sebastià, que l'autor repassa àmpliament en el seu article, tot acabant-lo amb alguns suggeriments "de cara a una Catalunya futura", especialment interessants. El text, centrat en uns dies immediatament anteriors a la formació d'Unió Democràtica, busca donar elements per comprendre millor la situació política i el context social en què va néixer el partit democratacristià, tant dins de Catalunya com especialment en el context estatal. La fermesa i fidelitat al país que demostrà el politic català en tot moment també es veuen ben reflectits en el repàs d'allò que succeí, dia rere dia, en un dels episodis potser més determinants de la politica peninsular del segle XX.

    Carrasco i Formiguera and the pact of San Sebastian [ HILARI RAG UER ] On April 9, 1938, the troops of general Franco made Manuel Carrasco i Formiguera, a Catalan political leader during the second and third decade of the 20th Century, a national martyr. His nationalism and love of his land, principles he defended firmly in all the political scenarios in which he participated, took him to the firing squad just four days after a decree by Franco abolished the statute. Years earlier, Carrasco had played a key role in what became known as the pact of San Sebastian, which the author deals with at length in this article, winding up with some very interesting suggestions with regard "the Catalonia of the future". The text, focusing on the days immediately before the formation of Unió Democratica, provides elements to further our understanding of the political situation and the social context in which the Christian Democrat party was founded, both in Catalonia and particularly in the statewide context. His unswerving firmness and loyalty to his country are well conveyed in the detailed narration of the events in what was possibly one of the most decisive episodes of peninsular politics of the 20th Century.
