This article examines how the image of the Alcázar of Toledo was constructed in Spanish documentary films, specifically in the Spanish newsreels called NO-DO (1943-1981).
The occurrence in the Alcázar is a kind of narrative that was fragmented by the news documentary, only partially presented to the public which, it was supposed, knew the entire story.
The image of ruins, in particular, was one of the riskiest chances taken by the Franco propagandists, and was well used abstract by the news documentary.
