This article takes a look at a particular type of Found Footage, i.e., films that recycle, reuse, or re-edit material which belongs to experiences in the filmmaker’s own life. A cross with the home movie genre, this type of film brings to the fore questions of memory, the relationship between public and private, as well as the filmic expression of what is most private. These themes are considered through the analysis of abstract Reminiscencesof a Journey to Lithuania by Jonas Mekas.
