  • Found footage has been the starting point for many challenging and unorthododox films made by experimental/avantgarde filmmakers. With principal —but not exclusive— emphasis on North American films, this article surveys the field of found footage filmmaking, giving special attention to the variety of formal techniques filmmakers have employed to evoke new abstract meaning from old images.
