    Este trabajo constituye una reflexión teórica sobre la naturaleza semiótica de la fotografía. A partir del rechazo de las tesis estructuralistas de Roland Barthes sobre la subsidiariedad y la dependencia estética de la fotografía, se plantea el análisis de la imagen fotográfica como un proceso semiótico establecido entre el fotógrafo, la imagen y el espectador. Este proceso parte de la estrategia discursiva prevista por el fotógrafo que subyace como potencial significativo en el componente formal de la fotografía. Las proposiciones implícitas se actualizan y cobran un significado concreto a partir del conocimiento y la experiencia cultural del espectador. La propuesta de análisis semiótico sobre la imagen fotográfica se basa en la individual Estrategias para la mirada (Japón, 2002) del fotógrafo canario Jaime Segura.

    This article is a theoretical reflection about the semiotic nature of photography. As opposed to the structuralist theses of Roland Barthes about the submission and aesthetic dependency of photography, it is considered that the photo image is a semiotic process established between the photographer, the image and the spectator.This process departs from the discursive strategy planned by the photographer which is underlying as a potential meaning in the formal component of the photo. The implicit proposal is updated and receives a specific meaning from the knowledge and the cultural experience of the spectator. This semiotic analysis is based on Strategies for glance (Japan, 2002), a photo work of the Spanish photographer Jaime Segura.
